Go Sydney Shuttle failed to meet us when we arrived at Sydney Airport and failed to refund the $36 I paid despite a polite request.
You may gauge the ethics of this company by the fact that I was granted two court orders for the return of the money and it still refused to pay.
So I obtained an order from the Sheriff’s Office to seize goods from the company’s registered office. And with costs, this resulted in a cheque for $260.28 being sent to me
Here’s what happened.
I paid $36 to AZIS Group Pty Ltd, trading as GoSydneyshuttle, to take my wife and me from Sydney Airport to the Great Southern Hotel in Sydney.
The booking form required me to nominate which flight I would be arriving on. I informed the company that it would be VA0954 which was due to arrive at 4.40pm. Because we would be carrying only cabin bags and would be able to walk straight to the pick-up point I nominated a pick-up time of 5pm.
I made a point of informing the company on the booking form that we would not have any luggage to pick up.
In case of delays I was reassured by the fact that the company advertises that it monitors flights. The plane was late but I noted that we were able to reach the pick-up point at 5.02pm.
Despite the company monitoring the flight there was no one there to meet us and there was no immediate communication from the company.
In addition to us having a 5pm appointment the company also advertises “Driver will arrive 30 minutes after your actual flight arrival time and hold a "Go Sydney Shuttle" sign.”
This did not happen. At least one of us was present at the pick-up point at all times.
We then found a text message saying: “Due to the delay of your arrival flight, you unfortunately missed our shared service. Our next ETA service is 18:00.”
A wait of an hour when taxies, buses and trains leave the airport for the Sydney CBD on a frequent basis does not meet the advertised service.
The service did not deliver on the advertised claim that customers would not be
“waiting around at your meeting point forever”. (Obviously, no-one ever waits forever – the claim suggests to the average person that there will not be an undue wait.)
The text advising it would be 6pm before the next pick-u[ offered us the chance to cancel the booking, asking: “Please reply by text YES or NO if you would like to take NEXT service”
I responded “NO” and obviously expected a full refund..
I was successful in taking them to the Queensland Civil Arbitration Tribunal which ordered a refund of our $36 plus the cost of my tribunal fee of $26.35.
In response to my review on another site the company lied that our plane did not land until 5.30 – a blatant lie that was never advanced in testimony to the tribunal.
I now also have an order from the Local Courts of NSW.
Go Sydney Shuttle has blatantly lied on two occasions in response to reviews I have written elsewhere.
On one review the company responded: “Customers received their service, and threatened to write negative reviews if we don’t refund the money.”
As mentioned, we did not receive our service and when we were offered the opportunity to cancel instead of waiting we accepted.
Apart from politely asking for our money back there was no other contact with the company.
We did not threaten the company in any way.
On another occasion the company lied that our plane did not land until 5.30pm for a 5pm pickup – a blatant lie that was never advanced in testimony to the tribunal.
Why would anyone do business with this company?
Schadenfreude – the company’s belief that I would give up on the chase through the courts has cost it $224.28!
